Find out if it’s possible for you to get a straighter smile with nearly invisible braces.
You’ve been wondered for some time now whether you or your teen could benefit from getting braces. Maybe you are only dealing with minor crookedness or other issues that only occasionally bother you. When traditional braces were the only option, many people (especially adults) chose just to stick with having a slightly off-kilter smile, but with the introduction of Invisalign now many older teens and adults are finally turning to our Braintree, MA, dentists to get a straighter smile.
Nearly Invisible Braces
One of the main reasons older teens and adults turn to Invisalign is because they get amazing results without other people noticing their braces. Aligners are made from completely transparent material and are very thin, which means that they are incredibly lightweight, easy to wear and not bulky. There is no metal associated with Invisalign and if you have an important presentation or event, you can also remove your aligner beforehand.
A Comfortable Treatment
You never thought the words “braces” and “comfortable” would go together but this metal-free system is certainly kinder to gums and other soft tissue. Each aligner is made from a flexible, thin medical-grade thermoplastic that perfectly fits against your teeth. The edges of your aligners are also smoothed, which reduces the risk of gum irritation.
Fewer Dental Visits
Since there are no adjustments needed during your Invisalign treatment process this means fewer trips to the dentist’s office. You will only need to visit our Braintree, MA, dentist every six weeks for routine checkups to make sure that teeth are shifting as planned and that you aren’t experiencing any issues. These checkups are quick and straightforward but make sure that your treatment is on the right track.
Easy to Care for
Since aligners are removable you won’t have to worry about changing up your brushing and flossing routine. If you have good oral hygiene then you won’t need to change a thing, and keeping aligners clean really isn’t that difficult. A simple brushing can help prevent stains from forming. If you have questions about how to keep aligners looking their best our dentist can give you helpful tips or recommend certain products.
Whether you are interested in getting Invisalign, seeking treatment for gum disease or simply needing a routine cleaning our full-service Braintree, MA, dental team can provide you with the dental care you need. Call our office today at (781) 843-0660 to schedule an Invisalign consultation.
Find out how clear aligners could give you the straight smile you’ve always wanted.
Are you an adult who is sick and tired of having a crooked smile? Do you wish that you felt confident every time you opened your mouth to smile or speak? Perhaps you think it’s too late to get that new and improved smile, but our Braintree, MA, dentists are here to tell you that it’s never too late to consider Invisalign.
We know that once you reach a certain age, the idea of sporting a mouth full of metal seems like a ridiculous option for getting a straighter smile. That’s why our Braintree general dentists offer Invisalign, which provide a clear orthodontic approach to improve common misalignments like crowding, gaps between teeth, overbites, and underbites.
Each aligner is made from clear, medical-grade plastic so they are nearly invisible when placed over your teeth. Each aligner must be custom made in order to provide you with the results you want. Before getting your aligners this means that we will need to take images of your mouth and use special computer software to help determine which teeth need to shift and how much they need to move in order to get your ideal smile.
From there, these specific tooth movements are mapped out and given to a special Invisalign dental lab, where they will make each individual aligner. Each aligner is designed to move teeth a specific amount, as determined by your individualized treatment plan.
In order to achieve the results you want does mean wearing your aligners as often as possible. While we know that it might be tempting to remove them, it’s important that you wear them anytime you aren’t eating, drinking (anything other than water), brushing, or flossing. Aim to wear your aligners for about 22 hours out of the day.
Aligners are usually worn for about two weeks at a time before being replaced with the next set of aligners in your treatment plan. The number of aligners each patient receives will depend on the severity of their dental issues. For example, someone who is only fixing minor crowding will have far fewer aligners than someone who has more moderate-to-severe gaps between teeth.
If you are a teen or adult in Braintree, MA, who is interested in getting Invisalign then it’s time you called our office to schedule a consultation with us. Let’s help you get the smile you know you deserve.
For many people, getting braces is a right of passage endured and mercifully left behind in the early adolescent years, along with quasi-existential angst and questionable hair and wardrobe experiments. Unfortunately, dental needs and realities can change, and the need for straight, adequately aligned teeth does not necessarily get resolved in the junior high years. Simply put, sometimes grownups need braces. Unfortunately, a mouth full of metal does not look nearly as adorable at a board meeting, or on a first date with a potential new love interest or possible life partner, as it does in an old yearbook picture.
Invisalign in Braintree
Thankfully for people who need to straighten their teeth, but do not want metallic braces, clear aligners offer the same results, without the practical and aesthetic issues that traditional braces can present for older teenagers and adults. The dentists at Braintree-based Dr. George Salem and Associates, PC help their patients get straighter teeth in a subtle, more natural looking way with Invisalign clear aligners.
How does Invisalign work?
Not only is Invisalign a more attractive and less invasive way to correct a smile, the process is incredibly easy and straight forward. A series of removable, clear aligner trays are custom designed for each patient. The trays, which are virtually invisible to the naked eye, are worn for up to 22 hours per day, and can be removed for up to two hours every day to brush and floss. Each tray is generally replaced for the next in the series after two weeks as the teeth begin to shift into the desired position. Invisalign makes it possible to discreetly straighten the teeth, without sacrificing regular oral hygiene practices, or a social life for 15 months!

If you're considering straightening your teeth, here's a few of the differences between two popular orthodontic procedures - Invisalign and traditional braces.
Invisalign works by gradually adjusting the alignment of your teeth using a series of clear, flexible plastic trays, called aligners, that blend in with your teeth and are very discreet. Your Braintree dentist Dr. Michael Kacewicz designs these trays for each patient using a combination of x-rays and digital "impressions" taken with a tiny camera. As the teeth move into position, the aligner is switched out for the next one in the series to continue the process. The Invisalign treatment takes between nine and fifteen months.
Braces consist of metal brackets that are affixed to the surface of the teeth. Semi-rigid wires connect each bracket and need to be adjusted every month by your Braintree orthodontist Dr. Kacewicz in order to move the teeth to their proper location in the mouth.
Which One is Right For Me?
Both Invisalign and traditional braces aim for the same results - to straighten your smile. Which one you choose will depend on a variety of circumstances, the first and foremost being how involved the process of straightening your teeth will be. Invisalign is designed for people who have mild to moderate crookedness or overlapping. Those with severe crowding, gaps or rotation of the teeth may be better suited for traditional braces. If your appearance is a concern, your Braintree dentist may suggest "clear" or ceramic braces; the wires and brackets are tooth-colored and less noticeable.
Invisalign trays are removable, so they can be taken out while eating, drinking, brushing or flossing. However, for best results, the dentists at George Salem & Associates advise their Braintree patients to wear the aligners between 20 and 22 hours per day. This may not be the best route for children or young teens, as Invisalign requires a fair amount of self-discipline and the aligners could become misplaced easily.
Regardless of which type of braces you use, you can be assured that the dental team at George Salem and Associates will provide you with outstanding service and satisfying results.
