Dental Implants in Braintree, MA
Dental implants are by far the best way to replace missing teeth. They serve as a replacement for the root of missing teeth and provide a strong foundation for a replacement teeth, bridges, or dentures.
The implant itself is made of titanium, a biocompatible material that is well tolerated by the body. Over time, the implant fuses with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration, which provides a stable base for the artificial tooth.
Dental implants can replace missing teeth without having to treat the teeth that are adjacent to the missing tooth/teeth as you would with bridgework or removable partial dentures. For patients missing some or all of their teeth, replacing teeth with implants is like magically going back to a time when the patient had all of their own teeth.
Dental Implants at Dr. George Salem and Associates
As one of the first dentists to restore implants in the Boston area, Dr. Salem has been restoring implants since 1985. Dr. Mathew Lann is our practice periodontist. He is a Harvard trained, board-certified periodontist, and he has been placing implants at our Braintree dental office for more than 20 years. Dr. Lann places the implants and monitors the patient during the healing phase. When healing is complete, Dr. Salem will construct and deliver the final crown for the implant.
All dental implant procedures are carried out right here in our office. There is no need for our patients to be treated by multiple doctors in multiple locations and be burdened by transferring records and films to those multiple doctors at multiple offices. Our patients appreciate the considerable amount of time and energy this saves them!
Dental Implant Care
Proper care of dental implants is essential for their long-term success. Just like natural teeth, dental implants require regular brushing and flossing to remove plaque and food debris. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste to brush your teeth at least twice a day. Floss daily to clean between your teeth and around the implant.
Regular dental checkups are also important to monitor the health of your implants and the surrounding teeth and gums. Dr. Salem can clean your implants and check for any signs of problems, such as inflammation or infection.
