How Is All-on-4 Different From
Individual Dental Implants?
Traditional implant treatment may replace a single missing tooth with a single implant and a single restoration. All-on-4 addresses a different problem: an entire arch that can no longer be predictably restored tooth by tooth.
The All-on-4 treatment concept uses four implants to support a fixed full-arch restoration. Two posterior implants are placed at an angle to make efficient use of available bone. Nobel Biocare identifies this four-implant configuration as the original All-on-4 treatment concept.

Are You a Candidate for All-on-4?
All-on-4 may be worth discussing when most or all teeth in one arch are already missing or have a poor long-term outlook. The decision depends on your oral health and anatomy, not simply the number of teeth that bother you.
We may consider factors such as:

The All-on-4 Treatment Process
Full-arch implant treatment requires both surgical and restorative planning. We explain the sequence before treatment so you know how each stage contributes to the final result.
1. Evaluation & Planning
We begin by evaluating your remaining teeth, gums, bone, existing dental work, and restorative goals. Necessary imaging helps us understand the structures supporting the planned implants. Dr. Salem considers tooth position, appearance, function, and how the new arch will relate to the opposing teeth before the case moves forward.
2. Implant Placement
Four implants are positioned to support the planned full-arch restoration. If failing teeth need to be removed as part of the treatment plan, that sequence is coordinated with implant care.
3. Provisional Restoration When Appropriate
Some patients who meet the necessary clinical criteria may be candidates for a fixed provisional restoration around the time the implants are placed. Immediate loading depends on factors such as implant stability and should not be assumed before treatment. Nobel Biocare likewise limits same-day provisional treatment to patients who meet appropriate criteria.
4. Healing and Final Restoration
The implants need time to integrate with the surrounding bone. After the appropriate healing and restorative stages, the final full-arch restoration is completed in accordance with the treatment plan.
