All-on-4 Dental Implants Braintree
A Faster Path to a Complete Smile
The purpose of dental implants is to replace the roots of lost teeth. But does that mean you need an implant for every single missing tooth? Not necessarily! In fact, thanks to All-on-4 dental implants, our Braintree team can use as few as four dental implants per arch! Plus, you can receive a beautiful new denture on the same day as your surgery! How Do All-on-4 Dental Implants Work?
During the All-on-4 surgery, we start by removing any remaining natural teeth. Then, we place two dental implants at the front of the mouth, and two are placed toward the back of the jaw at an angle. This strategy utilizes areas of the bone that are naturally strong and thick. Therefore, a bone graft is rarely necessary. Immediately after the implants are in place, we will provide you with a provisional (temporary) denture to go on top of them. Months later, after an adequate healing period, we will replace the temporary denture with a permanent prosthetic.
Am I a Candidate for All-on-4 Dental Implants?
You might be a suitable candidate for All-on-4 if:
- You are missing all or most of your teeth throughout one of your dental arches.
- Your jawbone is strong enough to accommodate dental implants (most patients meet this criteria, even without a bone graft).
- You are free of active gum disease and other oral health conditions that might negatively affect your implants.
- Your overall health is fair.
If you are unsure whether you qualify for All-on-4 dental implants, visit us for a consultation. The chances are good that you can get this procedure, even if you need to undergo some preliminary care first.
Benefits of All-on-4 Dental Implants
All-on-4 dental implants offer many of the same benefits as traditional implant procedures, including:
- Stability and strength. Implants can restore a great deal of your bite force, which can allow you to eat virtually any food.
- All-on-4 dentures are permanently attached to the implants that support them, so you can enjoy having teeth in your mouth 24/7.
- Dental implants have the potential to last a lifetime.
- Jawbone preservation. Because dental implants stimulate the jawbone, they can prevent the natural deterioration that occurs after tooth loss.
All-on-4 vs. Traditional Dental Implants
Although All-on-4 and traditional implants have some things in common, there are also some significant differences between them:
- Treatment timeline: All-on-4 is often faster overall than traditional implant methods. Plus, All-on-4 allows you to get new teeth on the same day as your surgery (traditional implants usually have a waiting period of several months).
- All-on-4 usually requires only one surgery, while traditional implants might require two or more.
- Traditional implants can be used to replace any number of lost teeth, whereas All-on-4 is exclusively for replacing a full arch of teeth.
- Overall strength. In some cases, traditional implants can be a bit stronger than All-on-4 due to the use of more implant posts.
